After graduating from university, my parents gave me an apartment. It was a two-bedroom, in a good neighborhood. I lived there alone for a few years, and then it turned out that my best friend divorced her husband and had nowhere else to go, plus she lost her job and was a commuter. I let her stay with me, and my parents knew that.
And then I realize that it's much more comfortable than living alone. There is someone to talk to in the evening, there is support, cleanliness, food is always in the house. I decided to rent my friend a room in my apartment. She agreed. For me it's a good addition to my income, and my friend is comfortable living with me and I rent her a room below market value. It's a win-win for both of us. And it's not boring.
