A Confucian proverb says when you sit at your table, consider the welfare of the whole family. As Vin Diesel said in one of his movies that “no matter where you are, whether it’s a quarter mile away or half way across the world. The most important thing in life, will always be the people in this room. Salute mi familia. You’ll always be with me… And you’ll always be my brother.” 

This proverb and statement underscores the importance of familial relationships. 

Family is not always about being blood. Family are those standing in your corner, fighting for you, standing beside you. Family are the ones who don’t turn their back on you, no matter how rough the waters get. Family are the ones who will never give up on you. Family will always push you to be the best version of yourself that you can be. Family will carry you during the moments when you can’t walk. Family is there forever. 

I have family, not friends, today.
