Front facing view would create more complexity and possibly a requirement for 3D or pseudo 3D views.

For a simple miniapp, I think Birds eye view would be best.
Or perhaps you could do an isometric quasi 3D view.

i think it would need both a front-facing view to see the obstacle and a birds eye view to see it get past the obstacle

there lies the challenge

unless i'm overthinking it...
