I didn't know anyone when I joined, so closer to #2. 

But I wouldn't say everyone has an equal 'chance' for impact (it implies probability to me), but everyone has an equal 'opportunity'. Some people will have an easier time to succeed than others due to whatever skills they came in with

And I think you’re onto something- wonder if we could articulate what that skill set is

I think at a high level I would categorize it under a) networking and b) marketing yourself

I could probably figure out a more actionable skillset in alignment of the above. 

If I reverse engineer what I've done so far naturally, I think it mostly involves replying to others and occasional DMs

Not taking yourself or this place too seriously, be willing to take risks

Yeah definitely! Maybe that hints at another skill - c) Integrating into the culture and finding your own way to contribute to it
