We are not closer to the truth reading our substacks, we just each have our optimized feeds. Everyone has their influencers, their “current thing”. Platforms surface or repress according to their interests. Reporters and influencers fight for attention, streamers scrapping it out in an ever escalating war for reactions
Our perception is “alternative media,” but it’s just a new, enormous industry. Highly centralized, too. It feels different though, and we enjoy imaging ourselves as rational. The independent thinkers, blissfully unaware 14 replies

no doubt that the modern neoliberal order (reagan, thatcher to obama, marco rubio) thoroughly restructured regulatory states around market logic. privatization, financial deregulation, hedgefund governance.
trump's own platform has followed this trajectory from 2016 to 2024, guy used to talk about like carried interest lol, all that was scrapped pretty quick. the realpolitik of needing to win increasingly expensive elections hits hard, for dems too. not partisan at all, really. remains to be seen whether our parents are the last generation to receive social security, or if the ineffective EPA is replaced by anything beyond vibes. just doubt working people win much regardless of party in power
very unclear to me how kennedy would actually accomplish any of the regulatory stuff that might make our food supply cleaner, big ag, energy has a lot of influence and little upside in cutting back on the stuff they do that makes our food supply so unhealthy. we'll see! 1 reply
