This image depicts the true and horrific story of the death of György Dózsa, the leader of the Hungarian peasant revolt in the early 16th century. Historical background: In 1514, György Dózsa, a knight and hero of the Crusades, led a peasant movement against the Hungarian nobility. Initially intended to protest feudal injustices, the uprising turned into a bloody rebellion. After the rebellion was suppressed by feudal forces, Dózsa was executed in an incredibly brutal manner. Description of the torture: Dózsa was forced to sit on a red-hot iron throne, while he was given a red-hot iron crown and scepter. The purpose of this was to put him in a mock "kingly" position. Then the real torture began: according to some accounts, some of his followers were forced to eat his body – although historical sources disagree on this point. /history
