Who here has seen the Aurora? Now whoβs seen it in the midlands of Ireland? I was lucky to catch the aurora on the 5th of November last year in a pretty awesome display 5 minutes from my house.

Itβs totally worth it! This was only my second time seeing it and definitely the best I saw. This year is solar maximum so itβs the best chance to go north this autumn.

Envy people who can see them from the backyard tbh What does solar maximum mean?

The suns activity goes on a 12 year cycle between solar minimum and maximum activity. Weβre nearing the peak of solar maximum now so the sun is really active shooting out plasma and such very often. When one of those blasts hit us we get crazy aurora. So thereβs much more aurora during last year and next year.
