My co-founder is inactive from last three months. He worked for 8 months part time (10 to 15 hours per week) and now asking for 9% equity for his 8 months work. Nothing has been vested and we as a company can repurchase that equity. What should I do?

Sorry to hear this, tough situation, particularly if you had a relationship with your cofounder before. From the limited info I have it seems like your vesting schedule has served it's purpose and prevented an otherwise possibly fatal outcome for your co.

It depends on the reasons a bit - are they sick for the 3 months or are they pursuing other opportunities? I think a departed cofounder with 9% equity on the cap table after less than a year is going to make it harder to raise money, so them leaving with that % is likely not in their best interest either.

But as a simplification I think they should probably leave with no equity

No, they weren’t sick. Just stepping back and exploring other opportunities. It sucks but I think. It’s for the better
