Martin Eberhard, an engineer, inventor and entrepreneur, was born on May 15, 1960 in Kensington, California. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering in 1982 and a master's degree in electrical engineering in 1984 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
