I am referring to indexes as a concept, use case. 

If they got rugged it means the technology implemented failed.

Also, as in trad finance, just because it’s an index doesn’t mean it will perform well. It depends on the strategy behind the index / assets ofc

they actually don't. there were several index protocols around 2020-2022 which were get rugged or exploited somehow. 

it's just that traders in both crypto and other domains prefer real indices across accountable and safe brokerage systems.

Indexes bring structure to the chaos. Most retail traders ignore them and end up confusing luck with skill. Tracking against a real benchmark is how you grow strategically. Have a great day ahead.
