A thought experiment we've been working through in the office: why hasn't Discord released a game launcher? They are well positioned to expand revenues in their core demographic and have seemingly reached a ceiling with their current revenue strategy. What risks are there outside of Steam/games blacklisting usage?

Why would users transition to a discord game launcher vs steam? It seems epic had to spend significantly to get initial adoption. I would like to see them expand into more UA tools for games.

They're already in Discord so it's lower friction. Better integrations for social elements like in game chat, etc. Easier to convince friends who aren't big gamers to try if they already have Discord. If they expanded UA tooling, it's not too far of a leap for them to just convert users into a native launcher.
