such a dichotomy between the "you own your content" vision in crypto vs how it's panning out where anything on the internet belongs to the internet in just the last few days we saw the entire world remix the morning routine guy and ghibli while the creators get nothing. it's getting paid in exposure but at hyperscale it seems inevitable since these tools are getting better, more accessible. it also feels like the fundamental nature of the internet. since the beginning it was about easier distribution, access, and remixing. limewire, reddit memes, sound cloud bootlegs, fanfiction etc have all been at odds with traditional copyright and ownership. now it feels like the tech has reached a new level that break how we handle these things. the internet has a knack for breaking down any friction to disseminate content faster and cheaper so I dont think we can fight that but it seems worthwhile to build systems where some of the value accrues to the creators.

The internet was always built for remix culture AI just poured fuel on it. Ownership is struggling to keep up.
