I'm the reason this is "optimistic." and not "optimism." 

I was working at Optimism in 2021 when Etherscan was hired to build the explorer, and I recommended that. Thought I was being clever but now I'm just annoyed by it. Sorry everyone! 🙏

Interesting! I never knew that! Makes sense why they didn’t want to name it op.etherscan then

I think at that point there were no OP tokens and it would've given the airdrop hunters another reason for speculation. 

But good point though. Would have made it easier to remember and type in.
