The Type 1 upgrade to our zkEVM prover was released today. It can generate proofs for any EVM chain.

With the AggLayer, the Type 1 prover will allow EVM chains to upgrade to ZK and access the shared state, liquidity, and user-base of the Polygon ecosystem.

Wut? Wasn't this considered to be impossible a few years ago? This is a big win for Ethereum and EVM.
Even @justindrake used to think EVM to be kind of an achilles heel of the Eth ecosystem. Collective building is lifting all boats! Open sourcing prover instead of milking millions is a commendable act by @0xpolygon

Farcaster is a fine demonstration in why you don't need strict global consensus and public blockchains for most things, but at the same time, they can prove valuable for 1 or 2 things

I hope to see more hybrid applications that are significantly better by minimizing blockchain usage only to strict global consensus

For vertical use cases we can maybe think about this as enforcing compute rules (see as spectrum with quality ratings?) at protocol level - biz as usual today, & cheaper w/ time - to determine how your db shd end up with incentivisation for enrichment. Rly depends how "rich" data for said use case shd be perhaps.
