I'm looking at Ethereum's staking contract (https://etherscan.io/address/0x00000000219ab540356cbb839cbe05303d7705fa#code) and wondering why is the design so minimalistic? E.g. why aren't stake withdrawal / rewards processed through the smart contract? What are the design rationale here?

Just read through the specs of AO Computer by Arweave. Very impressed with the architecture. I think the challenge now is to build a vibrant developer ecosystem - if the devex is as good as building a web2 app, I think it's going to be huge.
