i have had the same dream for 8 nights.

it starts with my ear pressed against my bedroom door

and then the gentle plucking of a harp travels up the stairs 

my hand turns the knob, my feet take one step after another 

i am looking through eyes that aren’t mine.

at the foot of the stairs is the source- 

an orb of light, undulating before me.

it’s song seeps through my skin,

acquainting itself with my bones. 

slowly drifting towards the front door,

my limbs follow in a trance..


and then I wake up in my bed,

the fresh sunlight piercing through the curtains.

my sheets are soaking wet.
