React Compiler (when it ever comes out of beta) will definitely drastically improve things from where they are now – no question there. But it is still a local maximum and you can only put so much lipstick on a pig.

Unless React fundamentally overhauls itself from being virtual DOM-based to block DOM or signal-based like literally every other framework right now, you are needlessly incurring costs on bundle size, runtime performance, developer experience and user experience by continuing to use it.

I should add – if you’re already super comfortable with your React stack, know all the quirks inside-out and just need to ship something fast, by all means – stick with what you know.

But if you’re a beginner to frontend dev or you’re building a critical project from scratch that needs to last the next 3+ years, you’d better give me a compelling and objective reason why you haven’t considered one of the many credible alternatives.
