Why Pepe? From the early Boy's Club days with Matt Furie in 2005 and it's usage on boards like 4chan and MySpace, to the alt-right movement and label as a hate symbol (2015-16), OWL and Twitch ban on Pepe's usage (the FreePepe movement), to it's resurgence as an icon of hope and solidarity at the 2019-20 Hong Kong protests and reclamation by a new generation. Pepe has immortalised it's place among denizens of the internet and continues to evolve onto new platforms. @jessepollak understands the cultural movement behind memes, how it brings us together and allows us to express ourselves across language barriers. It's an almost religious experience. @0x52basedpepe is Pepe on @base 🔵 No cooked meta, just a clean, canonical, fun-loving green frog 🐸 feels good man
