Think of a blockchain's mempool like a waiting room for transactions. When you want to send HAM (which is really just $TN100x 😉), your request goes into this pool. Miners then grab transactions from the mempool and bundle them into blocks. 

Network congestion happens when too many people are trying to send HAM at the same time. It's like a rush hour on the blockchain highway! 🚗💨 This can make transaction fees go up and slow things down.
