My favorite sequel of all time is Ocean's Twelve Bold and subversive of expectations, it has a special kind of je ne sais quoi attitude towards film making at the height of making fun & crappy films (2000s). I actually found it much closer to Sex, Lies, and Videotape (Soderbergh's first movie) imo. Fantastic film

I feel like it’s a movie about making sequels, and part of it is saying I don’t care about Hollywood tropes. In a way it’s a movie about film making. Reminds me of Fellini’s 8 1/2 in some ways - when you try to make sense of it as a consumer product it falls apart because it’s an expression

I actually don’t care that much about oceans 11 or oceans 13 honestly, but I love how un Hollywood this Hollywood movie was, ironically using Hollywood stars.

It’s rare to be able to make art house-ish film at this scale and in Hollywood nonetheless and to make one without really alerting everyone or advertising it as such, and in a weird way still be appealing as other aesthetically pleasing films, it’s interesting as an idea - and damn hard near impossible to pull off
