When I look at an iPhone, I see an iPhone.
What I mean by that is I see the glass screen, the components, I think of the box that it came in, I see the people working on assembling parts. I think of parents sending kids to good colleges so the kid can get into a good school, and to see their kid work in Cupertino, I see them struggling to take time off even though PTO is there for them. I see the mother sending her daughter to work in better conditions than rural China to work at a factory like Foxconn, I see the import export family business, I think of the wars that were fought that lead to treaties, millions of lives lost and millions more started, families, love, hate, divide, history. Thousands, millions of meetings, business dinners, drinking together, relationships forged, political alliances created, betrayed, I think of technological development, the rise of empires, debts accumulated by rising empires to fund their efforts, I think of changing tide, rise and falls of powers 15 replies
