Yes, and you can practice this skill by imagining loss. Which seems maudlin and strange, but works in a weird way. It’s the (secret) appeal of sad art.

I remember watching a video of an artist, and she was talking about during break ups on one hand she was sad, and then on the other hand she was thrilled because now she had content to write about

I can understand that. When my dad passed away, I wrote a lot of poems about it. Which was a way to process my grief. But I also realized the grief was fueling my creative output in turn—and I was thankful for that. And that was an odd realization.
