Saying rituals don’t matter, is like saying the taste of food doesn’t matter because it all ends up in your stomach anyway - you are not wrong, but well, you’re missing the message Let me more specific by what I mean when I say ritual:

Tbh I don't like the regular rituals. I see it as mainly to "show off" something ! We have different kinds of rituals in Egypt or done in a different way like weddings for example. We sacrifice (cow, sheep, buffalo) and the meat is distributed to the poor as a kind of celebration. And more stuff like this.

That makes sense -- I think what I'm most interested in is, is this idea of turning ideas and words into reality - during rituals that take place, with less focus on the showmanship of rituals per se It's more like a ribbon cutting ceremony - of course for most people it is a show, but the cutting, the action - this clearly marks the beginning of the establishment or thing they are opening. There's something special about demarcation of an abstract idea, into a physical action that we collectively take and live through

Weirdly enough, I agree with you - most rituals are if anything but boring. But I think, the reason we do it -- is because a couple saying I do to each other makes the marriage real, in some ways, and witnessing it is beautiful even if everything else in life is a show

i understand you point. i do like the like the end result of all rituals ngl. even if it's a show! the end result of the real main purpose of it I still like it. and there is some people into the showing off thing and they love watching it. the ones who like the idea of making the words come to life within rituals and the ones who like the showing off things. they both happy at the end ! that's what matter
