Why do you think western folks say they are not interested in making money when they are interested in making money, when asians have a more realistic view that making money is just making money

Also, I think that definitely is a generalisation.

An area where this was coming from - though often earning money in the states is about enriching oneself, where as in east Asia / Confucian oriented countries there is more a focus on enriching your family or community, and I do think in the west one must justify it doing it for more Platonic ideals (Platonic forms) like saving the planet, whereas with Confucianism you can have filial piety and do it for that - still a generalization yes

For example I think 30% of males 18-35 in France died in a 3 year period during WW1 - I don’t think we can really fathom what this means and the consequences to an entire generation of people and a country.

Also “the west” is kind of a bait-y term to begin with. WW2 in Europe was very different from WW2 in America. No one or at least not many  in America had the same kind of destruction and demise caused on home soil (and therefore food insecurity, and maybe attitude towards it) in the same way that Europe and many parts of Asia had during WW2
