Not sure if this counts, but down in Southern Thailand on Ao Nang Beach, at first it looks like sand until you get real close, and realize it is ALL composed of sea shells. One of those ways in which beauty emerges on closer examination. Here's the pic I took:

That's so cool, I've seen super magnified photos of sand and it looks like shellls and gems. Seems like it might not be pleasant to walk on barefoot though 🐚

Not too bad to walk on in this case, although you can tell the difference in softness compared to other silt-like beaches in the region.
