Category: /higher Essay: The Token/Vibe Paradox Author: @lght.eth Tags: down-bad, up-big, wat-do Notes: I've thought a lot about this, and not just because Merc Cap acquired what was once a significant higher position and is now the single worst trade I've made (personally, or with merc) of the cycle. And I didn't even buy the top! Heres what I think: higher is thriving culturally on Farcaster. Its an aspirational brand, one of the only ones we have that feels cool. That is so rare in crypto I'm going to type it out again: higher seems cool. In a lame industry (speaking objectively here, not personally) with lame brands and lame tokens with cringe aesthetics, higher pulled off the impossible. But its not yet cool to enough people. 1/2

For the token to capture speculative flows again, we need new buyers (duh) and right now Farcaster isn't onboarding many new users or much speculative capital. Sure, theres stuff we can do at the economic level - driving value to the token from higher projects, and I still think /highercollective building software, incubating consumer crypto apps could be high impact, but mostly I haven't sold $HIGHER because I want to own a piece of the only project since Milady that felt like it could break out of CT and be sticky with wider internet-native audiences based on vibes alone. higher should prioritize this, develop a real brand strategy for Twitter, Instagram and Tiktok, get higher-aligned cultural products into the zeitgeist. for the token to get a bid, it needs to be embraced as an *aspirational object* by more people, and I worry about that happening on Farcaster shorter term 2/2
