I think its weird how normal it is in the space for influencers to post about stuff like race science & IQ. obviously its cringe to see anyone talking about how cool a eugenicist LLM sounds, but more importantly: what are the values of crypto's community? have we built a social fabric that can sustain meaningful, decentralized alternatives to state institutions? we got censorship resistant, global, p2p networks but we fumbled building culture so hard. ours feels like it'll struggle for longevity. instead of imagining new futures, we just hope some politicians offer some benefits in theirs. we're enthusiastic about bringing people onchain, but embedded wallets doesn't motivate users. culture does

I'm not a fan of Autism aka the OG SBF simp but I also don't think (self-)censoring instead of public disussion helps. Neither is being politically correct interesting or advance life in itself. Original libertarian crypto values resonated well with me. By now, I believe we have many other values, different flavors & tribes in crypto. Some more open (Eth, Optimism), some less open (Btc), some very limited in their views, others very open (different sub groups). I see some of the libertarian values like freedom, privacy got lost over time with the inflow of new people but hope they'll make a renaissance - as I see them as cornestone for successfully & peacefully living together. That said, I believe everyone has culture and searches for belonging. Helping people make onchain (tribes) part of their identity will help with adoption. Tribes without products is a bit weird too though.

having values people care about != self-censorship I wouldn't call rejecting racial pseudoscience being "politically correct" I'm just saying I think dumb race-war memes are stupid, its stuck culture shit. worse than being 'wrong,' its cringe and embarassing. when our 'scene' finds culture wars & 'edgy' 4chan memepolitics more appealing than any values we offer up closer to home, we're losing. I'd imagine Autism Capital would identify as a libertarian who believes in crypto's core values. but to the world, he's posting about making the AI talk about race & IQ.
