welcome to good friend @various-authors! Check this out. He made a reproduction of the original magic the gathering prototype set and a script to generate random starters. Even made origami card holders. So cool. @various-authors how did you come aware this set even exists, was it hard to reproduce?

this is how you introduce someone on fc! 👏👏 welcome @various-authors, hope to see more of your stuff here in /tabletop i collected cards in the early aughties never was a good player, didn't want to dive deep enough to build decks but i liked the art you and @colton would have a lot to talk about!

Garfield mentioned the playtests in the 1995 mtg guide, so I've kind of always been aware of the set. What got me interested in playing with it was stumbling across an archive of all the cards, along with a bunch of interesting notes and comments. It's been lots of fun! Six of us are playing and every game is for ante. It's really interesting to experience the game in this state. It's wild how complete it feels. Even in this early form, it is compelling... We played six games in a row the first night! And interesting difference between gamma playtest and alpha is the inclusion of cards that affect ownership... If my pixies are unblocked, for example, I permanently exchange ownership of a random card in my hand. You can lose a game and come out feeling like a winner if you managed to snatch a powerful creature.
