The radio is a LoRa-based device running Meshtastic firmware - off grid communication within a few miles of other nodes, and relay hops are supported out of the box. Fun stuff to play with (is open source and even open hardware), and super helpful when out camping etc with friends and no reception. ...And the midi keyboard is, well, a midi keyboard!

Yeah the speeds in the field aren't impressive- enough to transmit up to a few KBs but no more at any sort of practical distances/delays apparently. When I stumbled upon it I immediately wondered about voice messages, and it didn't seem very promising. Doesn't take away from its original coolness tho!
