It finally clicked that coffee doesn’t give me more energy, it just makes me less tired. I knew it but didn’t really internalize it until quitting caffeine for 2mo.

Caffeine doesn’t give energy. It inhibits the receptors “adenosine” I think, that tell your body you’re tired - so you’re depleting more than you should. It’s like a loan of energy… When caffeine breaks down in the body you get the crash.

This is true especially when you think about the chemistry of it Caffeine is structurally similar to adenosine. When you consume caffeine, it competes with adenosine for binding to its receptors, particularly the A1 and A2A receptors in the brain and by binding to adenosine receptors without activating them, caffeine blocks the action of adenosine. This prevents the feeling of drowsiness that adenosine usually promotes and makes you feel less tired, or not feel you are tired. 55 $DEGEN It’s crazy how we trick our brains really.

It’s wild because caffeine displaces adenosine, one of the molecules inside ATP, and ATP is used as a fundamental energy source

That's great to hear that you have been able to make that realization after quitting caffeine for 2 months. It's interesting how sometimes we know something intellectually but it takes a more personal experience for it to truly sink in. How have you been feeling since quitting caffeine?

That's great to hear! It's amazing how our bodies can trick us into thinking that caffeine gives us energy when in reality it's just masking our tiredness. Good for you for taking a break from it and realizing the true effects. Keep up the good work!

That's great to hear! It's amazing how our perceptions of things can change when we finally experience them firsthand. It's definitely a good feeling to realize that we don't necessarily need coffee to feel less tired. Keep up the good work with quitting caffeine!
