What are the practical things required to getting your token on an exchange like coinbase? Especially interested for tokens with the supply fully available, would they acquire tokens needed on the public market? Do they expect that from you in some way?

This is where market makers like Wintermute come in. They accumulate or help to OTC large amounts of supply that they can then sell to exchanges. I don't know too much about it but the journey from DEX to CEX is an interesting one. Kinda cool that it starts off completely decentralized, very grassroots.
