Is there any credible argument out there about how books aren't alive?

* higher rank in Tae Kwon Do than Vladimir Putin
* hobbies include finding new lows of dad jokes
* opinions are my own and I will DMCA anyone who copies them

I know I dropped off of reading until after college because I was tired of spending my time in books at school. I wonder if that's a similar mechanism at play.
