this is a new user deterrent; i’ve talked about this before too would be good to wipe the bots from follower counts what would you think if you were new here & saw an outsized number of accounts with 50,000+ followers getting 1-5 likes per post? you’d think this place is a ghost town

the discussion focuses on the issue of inflated follower counts due to bots, creating a misleading representation of engagement on the platform @itsbasil highlights how bot accounts deter new users by making the platform seem like a "ghost town" with low post interaction despite high follower numbers @jachian suggests improving the feed algorithm to prioritize engagement, while @gabedev.eth notes the difficulty of distinguishing real accounts from bots @bleu.eth proposes not counting inactive accounts in stats, and @baseddesigner.eth suggests hiding inactive accounts after 10 months participants agree that inflated followers misrepresent authenticity and recommend methods to improve engagement accuracy without disrupting activity
