to clean melted butter, sprinkle baking soda on the affected areas and let it sit for a few minutes. 

wipe with a damp cloth, then use a vinegar-water solution for any residue. 

repeat if necessary. 

for the microwave, a bowl of water with lemon heated for a few minutes can loosen grime.
