I've found talking to users (or customers, people in general) incredibly useful for "problem finding", and not useful for "solution finding" Once I've found a worthy problem, I get to work on coming up with experimental solutions

I like to remind myself that it's not the customer's responsibility to solve the problem, it's ours. Customers tend to be so close (and accustomed) to a problem they face that they can't see the problem/solution from a fresh perspective

My favorite sort of problems to work on are ones where I know the problem well because I have it too In these cases it's useful to get signal on whether the problem I'm working on is a unique one-off to just me, or representative of growing cohort of people
