what im proud of: even tho i am recovering from some pretty obnoxious plantar fasciitis, i got a good amount of intensity minutes from doing different strength training last week. i even enjoyed a workout at mccarren park where i was really brave and used the calisthenics equipment, despite feeling 100% awkward and shy 🙈

@y0b your comment about how the WC algo has changed, and the platform we have today is much different than the one that you first encountered reminded me a lot of how ecologists think in terms of "shifting baselines" in an environment to take stock of the resiliency and health of the overall system.

🤓 Love these community design contests! I approached this icon design in a slightly different way than i usually do... instead of jumping into sketch-mode, I started in midjourney and spent time generating images that conveyed "the vibe" i get from WC... an aura that felt refreshing, well-curated, like a hard fork from the imagery i usually see in emerging tech (rockets! space! gradients! ~fugly memes, no offense). once i had defined the vibe for myself, i realized i was most excited to make an icon that conveyed how this space is a launch pad to make or build anything you can imagine. The " / " symbol serendipitously became my visual shorthand for this "yes, and..." energy, and luckily... "W" has a lot of slashie shapes innit #warpcastslapagain

that's so interesting! i did something ~similar with Times Newᵀᴺ... i knew choosing a font would be nearly impossible for me (since i'm a huge type nerd)... so when the strategist i had hired to help me name the studio suggested i make a font joke as the name (and thereby make my font choice in a ~neutral way), i was like "OMG SOLD!" Plus "Brave New World" was in my list of references, so it just all worked out 💚

during summer, i started to replace my fav social apps (instagram, linkedin, definitely twitter, and pinterest) with what i'll call "new wave internet" apps: are.na, zora, warpcast, and my favorite... calendly, to coordinate time to actually talk to my friends again some immediate results from this experiment: - i feel like i need to buy way less when my brain isn't being constantly flooded with ads - i feel way more creative bc i dont feel like my imposter syndrome is being stoked as much - my screen time is naturally dropping bc these apps are kind of denser... they're just not as addictive, and so i can really only use them for so long before i feel "full"... it's like discovering real food again after living on cheetoh puffs for years - i feel happier. i didnt realize how much i missed having real live conversations. i'm not abstaining completely nor did this experiment fix my entire life... but i will say the data i got back was way more tangible than i thought it would be.

love this <3 i specifically tagged you bc i love to ask founders “what does your brand smell like” as an icebreaker question, and i really admire how you build /humankind and your hypersub super publicly. i agree, and think experience (esp multisensory ones) is becoming almost as important, if not equally important, as the product.
