Today's AI systems are "narrow," meaning they excel at specific tasks but lack general intelligence or autonomy. Most AI systems require human oversight, training, and data input to function effectively. Truly autonomous AI would be capable of self-learning, decision-making, and adapting to new situations without human intervention. Developing Artificial General Intelligence, which can perform any intellectual task a human can, is a significant hurdle.
