Live from Farcon: Base has zero plans for a token. They're enamored with the blooming token economy, led by DEGEN, and want to encourage growth. Moreover, a token would be regressive, in Jesse's view, and Base team would rather decentralize the network "the hard way", w/o one.

TLDR: No Base token. Degen to $1.

Kudos to Base for confirming no L2 token.

Definitely agree with @jessepollak that you don't need a token to decentralize governance on a permissionless network. Good projects, teams, and tokens will rise to the top.

Yeah OP is beneficial to any chain utilizing the Optimism stack and even some projects that are just beneficial to the ecosystem overall.
