The great Mick Wadsworth celebrated his 73rd birthday yesterday. You don't know him, but he took an honorable place in the history of the Albion. Not he so much, as his photo with the award for the best manager of the third division in 1995. The FA people brought this trophy straight to the Carlisle stadium, and for some reason the photographer clicked the shutter exactly once. As a result, the world got an ominous manager who was called to Hogwarts, but he can't go, because he has a damn match against Northampton. And not even in Quidditch. Mick is a very famous manager in England: he was an assistant for Bobby Robson during the 1990 World Cup, sold his paintings of football pitches for a great deal at charity auctions, plays the piano and harmonica brilliantly, and ended up at Carlisle United because he could not accept the offer from PSV because of bureaucracy. I hope this trophy is still sitting on Mick's mantelpiece. Well, if I had brought this home, this would helping me to pack my things for the trip.
