The problem with AI search engines is that they try to go straight to the “best” answer.

Consider that maybe I enjoy clicking around the web exploring aimlessly. Maybe exploring the web is fun…

A Google search just provides the first set of branching off points.

If I worked in product at OpenAI I’d be interested in exploring this further.

How do use AI to make computers into infinite playgrounds to explore, rather than deterministic tools that converge on answers?

These AI search products only make sense in a work / productivity context.

For consumers / recreational contexts, I don’t want a machine to “do the browsing for me,” anymore than I want a bot to “win the game for me” when I play chess. I want to play the game.

But if you need that you already have Google so why recreate the same thing?

I think the bigger problem is that they are so confidently wrong.
