Why do militaries or soldiers follow what dictators say? For example, what is happening in Venezuela. I’m sure the soldiers have families who are ready for a change as well. Is it as simple as “obedience”?

highly recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/Dictators-Handbook-Behavior-Almost-Politics/dp/1610391845 From what I understand, the military leadership are often compensated well enough to be persuaded to go along with it. Maybe there's an idealogical alignment also? but usually the answer here is đź’°
