I'm about to start my second startup and I've decided not to measure my business success by any useless metrics.

What do you find to the useless ones you often times see? Like vanity social media metrics?

Iā€™m focusing on revenue. My last startup focused on so many metrics that that never really translated into anything sustainable.

Hard to say since I don't know the nature of your startup, but I think there's something to be said about identifying drivers of revenue and generating a balanced scorecard for that, and narrowing focus on those metrics to drive revenue. But again, it also depends on the nature of your startup, and I also think that approach is more applicable and effective for larger corporations where you want them more narrowly focused on like doing 3 or 4 things really well and assuming (hoping?) that materializes into revenue/profitability.
