The ice-cave was frigid, filled with jagged shards of ice and glistening frozen crystals. In a recessed nook, a man sat stoically on a block of ice, one hand grasping a frosted sword hilt. The pale light from the icy walls reflected off his chiseled features, his silver hair dusted with tiny flecks of frost that sparkled like diamonds.
“You’re tardy,” he said coldly, his gaze remaining fixed on the icy floor.
“I wasn’t sure I could make it through the cold,” Lyra replied, shivering as she stepped into the cave. His eyes cut towards her then—sharp, icy, and inscrutable. He slowly drew the sword a short way from its sheath with a faint scrape of metal against ice and straightened his posture.
“If you’re here seeking guidance,” he said, his voice like a wintry wind, “you’d better have the resolve to endure the chill.”
