All designers become better designers if they:

• Work two years in an agency
• Build a video game
• Ship an app

obligatory "designers should do what I did as a designer" but I still think the list holds up

It's a cold day in hell the day you actually get to ship anything from inside an agency, and video games are often shit apps (and don't get me started on apps that are ""games"")
