On October 18th local time, US federal judge Tanya Chutkan released evidence of Trump's immunity lawsuit, but failed to postpone the release until after the US presidential election on November 5th. Previously, on July 1st, the US Supreme Court ruled that Trump enjoys a certain degree of immunity from criminal prosecution in federal cases involving alleged "interference in the 2020 election," but has no right to be exempt from prosecution for actions taken in a private capacity, and instructed lower courts to reconsider the case and determine which actions are "public service acts" that cannot be prosecuted. This ruling means that the progress of this case will take some time.
