What wallet would you recommend to a complete beginner and why?

i’d say metamask for evm and and coinbase for smart wallets for now (rainbow soon)
 and an advice would be to try not to stand out in your first year, shut up and try to assimilate info, study and learn some of the almost big or big guys and write down the steps they took in getting there.

For EVM (including base), Rabby wallet is the only wallet you need.
