Laurits Andersen Ring (La Ring, 1854-1933) was one of the most important painters in Denmark in the early 20th century. He created a precedent for symbolism and social realism in Denmark.His work, "Summer of Roskilde Fjord" (Figure 3), is considered one of the masterpieces of Danish culture and is included in the classic Danish cultural works.
