Ho the Flaming Lips! I saw them opening for the Red Hot in Brussels 2 lifetimes ago, Moby was even playing solo before them that night. It was the One Hot Minute Tour.

I wish there was adoption of this app was way faster, but then it would mean having all the NFT experts, the thread guys, the DM for promo ... Atmosphere is so much better on this side, still it feels a bit like twitter 14 years ago.

You have to love how you still have people tweeting everyday how twitter is so much better since Elon came in.

Middle East where I live now you need to provide everything about you for pretty much everything and anything too.

In Europe you have a unified national identity system everywhere, where I lived in Asia too, Australia does not and it also seem very foreign to them.

Ho I'm with you there! I really don't want that at all, but sometimes making a thread to explain your point of view is useful.

KYC in the US was a result of patriot act. I the rest of the world we've had that long before (mostly) for preventing tax evasion. It helps to find to guy who stole your NFT exactly the same way it help to find the guy who stole your wallet. You get it back and the guy goes to jail.

Making a thread here is much like making them on Twitter a couple of years ago. We'll get there 🙂

We will never have mass adoption without a feeling for the public that they won't be left alone when hell breaks loose, that they won't lose everything and not being able to recover it. KYC solves this, not another app, not a browser extension, not education. KYC, get over it.

Then for the public it provides safety: scams are scaring people away, the far west is fun but it's dangerous. With KYC you know the person in front of you can be held accountable, you can "call the manager".

Because that is the first advantage: KYC removes impunity for all the bad actors in the space. You can't "beanie" your way out of shit (excuse my French) with KYC. You will be held accountable. That alone is a massive plus for me.

Yes it will mean that people making a lot of money out of the space will not be able to hide their identity. Is that a security risk, yes. But let's face it, massive accounts have been drained, it did not protect them and KYC would help finding the thief.

It will mean that there is transparency and that yes you will have to pay taxes according to the laws of your country. Taxes are not fun I get it, but they are part of a functioning society and you don't mass adoption without being part of the society.
