I'm aligned with the priorities mentioned, but I also support the original point: Why not pursue both paths? Harvesting helium-3 on the Moon could power us for ages, while Mars, with its proximity to the asteroid belt, might have a wealth of minerals far beyond Earth's. Both ventures are incredibly worthwhile.
