I do think Americans are mostly in denial about how physically strong China really is.

Newsom is aware of how strong China is, though, and may want a deal with them to keep Dems in power.

@briang FWIW Bill Bishop, author of the well known Sinocism newsletter (prev MarketWatch, Axios, NYT) thinks the above referenced article also lacks nuance in its thinking (though he uses different words)
